Design research turns questions about people, contexts, and experiences into evidence that can guide responsible design decisions. This course introduces a systematic process for framing research, selecting qualitative methods, conducting fieldwork, synthesizing findings, and communicating actionable insights.

Weekly assignments support the step-by-step development of the semester research project. Depending on the week, an assignment may be prepared for class, completed through a worksheet, presented during a feedback session, or uploaded for review. Assignments are assessed collectively under the Weekly Process Assignments category based primarily on timely completion, preparedness, effort, and evidence of continued progress. Not every assignment will receive a separate numerical score or detailed feedback.
Formal Deliverables are the major assessed outcomes of the course. Each Deliverable carries a designated grade weight and is evaluated using specific criteria. Most of the course grade is therefore determined by the quality and coherence of the four formal Deliverables.
Students must follow the approved consent, privacy, data handling, and participant-respect procedures introduced in class.
Detailed attendance, lateness, and participation policies will follow the official syllabus and Yonsei University regulations.
Research records, analysis, writing, and attribution must accurately represent the student's work and sources. Any use of AI tools must follow the course policy announced by the instructor.
